Clontarf Academy students visit MEPAU

Embracing the Spirit of NAIDOC 2025: MEPAU welcomed Clontarf Academy students for a morning of engagement and shared learning.

In celebration of NAIDOC 2025 and this year’s powerful theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy,” MEPAU proudly reaffirms its commitment to reflection, connection and progress.

MEPAU was honoured to host a Clontarf Student Visit and NAIDOC Morning Tea in our office. This inspiring event brought together Clontarf Foundation Year 11 and Year 12 students from the Belmont Clontarf Academy and the MEPAU team for a morning of meaningful conversations and learning.

The event began with an introduction from Shane Koimans, Partnerships Manager at the Clontarf Foundation, who shared insights into the foundation’s mission and the important role industry partners, such as MEPAU, play in supporting students’ growth, development and long-term success.

MEPAU team members had the privilege of hearing from Clontarf alumni Kaleb Bannon (Ellenbrook Clontarf Academy, 2021) and Denzel Thorne (Gilmore Clontarf Academy, 2020), who spoke about the positive impact the foundation has had on their lives and how its support has helped shape their personal and professional journeys.

Students and team members came together for an engaging morning tea, provided by All Good Grub, an Indigenous catering service. The event created a valuable opportunity for students to connect with MEPAU team members.

Following the morning tea, MEPAU hosted a series of interactive sessions designed to give students a closer look at the wide range of career opportunities within the energy sector. Students heard from MEPAU professionals across a range of fields, including Drilling and Completions Manager Gordon Ramsay, Project Operations Lead Cameron Goodchild, Graduate Environmental Advisor Emma Curnow, Digital and Transformation Lead Rex Jahn, and Business and Change Analyst Teagan van de Velde. Each speaker shared their unique career journey and provided valuable insights into their respective fields. Their stories and advice aimed to encourage and empower the next generation of leaders.

MEPAU remains committed to fostering meaningful stakeholder engagement and is proud to partner with the Clontarf Foundation, supporting the journeys of students across Australia, including those at the Geraldton and Mid West Academies. Events like today serve as powerful reminders of the positive impact we can make when we listen, share and collaborate.
