You're reading: Celebrating International Women’s Day

At the Waitsia Gas Project, nearly all of the women working at site came together to celebrate International Women’s Day with a special morning tea.

The group represented the many organisations that work collaboratively at Waitsia, including Mitsui E&P Australia, Beach Energy, Clough and CaterCare.

It was a vibrant occasion that allowed for making new connections and meeting colleagues who may otherwise not cross paths, as well as providing a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate the women on site.

A big thank you to CaterCare and ASCO for catering this special event on 8 March 2025.

MEPAU at the CCIWA International Women’s Day Event

This year’s CCIWA International Women’s Day event was a truly inspiring and empowering experience that highlighted the strength, resilience and brilliance of women from all walks of life.

Keynote speaker Olivia Vivian shared her experiences as a gymnast representing Australia, overcoming health and physique barriers to compete at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the World Championships, and win silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Her deeply resonating speech was then followed by a panel of inspiring women who shared their diverse experiences, wisdom and journeys: Esme Bowen, Director of Volunteering Australia and the Paraplegic Benefit Fund, Chair of the WA Carers Advisory Council, and Vice President of CCIWA; Assistant Commissioner Arlene Mavratsou; and Amanda Healey, CEO of Warrikal and founder of clothing and accessories brand Kirrikin;

The theme for this year, March Forward, is a powerful reminder for all women to keep pushing boundaries, lifting each other up, and creating lasting change for women everywhere. The key message for the event, “As women succeed, we all succeed” was explained as being a reminder that when one woman thrives, all women thrive.
