Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU) is proud to announce a significant milestone in the development of the Waitsia Gas Project — the commencement of first gas out from the newly commissioned Waitsia Gas Plant, located near Dongara in Western Australia.

This achievement marks a pivotal step forward in one of Australia’s largest onshore gas developments. Operated by MEPAU in joint venture with Beach Energy, the Waitsia Gas Project will deliver a reliable supply of natural gas to Western Australia’s domestic market and contribute liquefied natural gas (LNG) to global energy markets — supporting both local energy needs and international demand for cleaner energy sources.

MEPAU extends its sincere appreciation to both the Western Australian State Government and the Australian Federal Government for their continued support since the project’s inception.

The Waitsia Joint Venture plans to progress toward full operational capacity over the coming months and remain committed to transparent engagement with our stakeholders as the project advances. Further details will be shared in due course.
