In September 2019, the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) notified the public that MEPAU had referred the Waitsia Stage 2 development proposal for environmental impact assessment.

Following assessment of the proposal, including a two-week public review, the EPA has released its report and recommendations for the Minister for Environment.
