Statement by Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU)

8 April 2024

The Waitsia Joint Venture is conducting pre-commissioning and commissioning activities at the Waitsia Gas Plant. An important part of this process is to identify and rectify any quality issues to ensure a safe and issue-free operation. As the development continues toward completion, more issues may emerge and we will continue to identify and rectify these as part of our commitment to operational excellence and safety performance.

MEPAU and Beach are working collaboratively with our project partner Clough to develop a robust forward plan on which an updated schedule and cost estimate can be based.

MEPAU as the operator of the Project is committed to work closely with Beach and Clough to target delivery of first gas from the Waitsia Gas Plant within the second half of 2024.

The Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 (Project) is significant not just in terms of delivering a reliable supply of gas, but also for the economic growth the Project provides for the Mid West region.
