Mid West Swim and Survive kicks off into Term 1

The Mid West Swim and Survive Access & Enquiry program has kicked off for Term 1 at Geraldton Aquarena, Coorow Aquatic Centre and Mullewa swimming pool – an initiative proudly funded by Mitsui E&P Australia and Beach Energy.

Royal Life Saving WA is ready to splash into 2025 with another round of Swim and Survive swimming lessons at the Geraldton Aquarena, Coorow Aquatic Centre and Mullewa swimming pool, as part of a Mid West swimming skills initiative funded by MEPAU and Beach Energy.

The Swim and Survive program gives children the opportunity to learn essential swimming and water safety skills and build confidence. With the Mid West having the second-highest drowning rate in WA, programs like these are a game- changer for keeping the community safe.

In Term 1, Royal Life Saving Society WA instructors are providing swimming lessons focused on water education and safety, such as:

  • Children’s Swim and Survive
  • SAIL (Specialised and Inclusion Lessons) Swim and Survive
  • Multicultural & Aboriginal Children’s Swim and Survive
Over two years, our partnership with Royal Life Saving WA will see 1,400 children from across the Mid West engaged in Swim and Survive lessons, including Dongara, Geraldton, Coorow, Eneabba, and Mullewa.

This partnership is dedicated to ensuring every child in the region gains essential swimming and water safety skills, which is especially important given that the Mid West has the second-highest drowning rate in WA.

Together, we’re working to make a real difference in water safety and help reduce drowning risks in our community.
