Paul Whiteaker, MEPAU’s HSE Advisor, speaking with students at the Mid West Student Expo.
Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU) participated in the Energy Club WA’s 2025 Mid West Student Expo, welcoming an impressive crowd of more than 100 regional students eager to learn about the future of energy.
Students from Geraldton Grammar School, Carnamah District High School, Dongara District High School, WA College of Agriculture – Morawa, and Morawa District High School came together to explore innovation, technology, and career pathways across the energy sector.
At MEPAU’s interactive information booth, hosted by Senior Stakeholder Relations Advisor Freya Contos and HSE Advisor Paul Whiteaker, students gathered around a scaled model of the Waitsia Gas Plant. This provided a valuable opportunity for students to discuss operations at one of Australia’s largest onshore gas fields that is within their local region. The team engaged students in interactive discussions on the evolving energy mix, including the role of gas, wind, energy storage, battery technology, and carbon capture and storage.
MEPAU was pleased to join a strong line-up of exhibitors, including Qetra, Strike Energy, Seal Energy, the Mid West Development Commission, the Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Central Regional TAFE, and the City of Greater Geraldton. We look forward to continuing to connect with students and inspire future energy leaders at upcoming events.
