MEPAU co-hosted the Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MWCCI) ‘Business After Hours’ event held at the Geraldton Yacht Club on Monday, 16 December. This was the end of year MWCCI event and guests brought contributions for the not-for-profit organisation, FoodBank Geraldton, that provides meals to people in need throughout the Mid West and Gascoyne regions.

MWCCI Events and Membership Engagement Coordinator Sierah Lemmon said the event is a good way for local business owners to learn more about other local businesses in a social setting.

“It’s an opportunity for local businesses to build relationships,” she says. “When we choose which businesses will co-host an event together, we consider which ones might be able to work well together in the future. We have had some great success stories where businesses have benefitted from the relationships they formed at the Business After Hours events.

“Being a co-host of the event means your business is showcased. You can give a speech, deliver a PowerPoint presentation or simply create a display. The point is the hosts have the opportunity to present their business to the wider business network, so other businesses have more of an understanding of what they do.”

MEPAU Director and CAO, Ted Ishizuka, says MEPAU was honoured to co-host the December event. “It’s an exciting time for us as we prepare to commence construction for our Waitsia Stage 1 Expansion, which is impossible without local support” he says. “We enjoyed chatting with other local business both about our business and their service provisions.”
