Together with Beach Energy, Mitsui E&P Australia is funding the upgrade of the emergency communications technology in all of the St John Ambulances in the Mid West.
Each of the 18 volunteer-maintained ambulances in the Mid West will now have a standardised level of communications technology. This will provide stand-alone mobile communication in and out of the vehicle, a duress function to connect to the State Operations Centre, and a wireless 5G enabled mobile internet connector.
These technology upgrades are future-facing to enable the long-term expandability of the network and to support future data and technology upgrades – such as the ‘push to talk’ technology that St John WA is trialling currently.
As an energy provider based in WA and operator of the Waitsia Gas Field in the Mid West region of WA, we are very much a part of and a great supporter of the Mid West community, and our health and safety focus also extends to our community. Continuously improving our health and safety systems is a crucial part of our day-to-day operations and keeps our people safe at work.
We believe that strong safety systems deliver life-saving outcomes – and that is why we are partnering with St John Ambulance to ensure every Mid West ambulance has reliable and continuous communication when responding to an emergency incident.
This communications technology upgrade will ensure that ambulances never drop out of range, and enable the hard-working ambulance crews to focus on what matters most: Providing life-saving services for the Mid West community.
As a result of this upgrade, everyone who calls an ambulance in the Mid West can be assured that the St John WA response team is reliably connected to the WA Health and ambulance system.
